Nutrition for Schools
Nutrition is so important for our children to keep their immune systems boosted all year round. When children start off in School at 4/5 years old, they become more independent and start making their own food choices along with many other choices for themselves. It is important to add variety to your children’s lunch boxes and to make sure that they are eating a nutritious lunch and snack each day during the School day. Most school food is renowned for being poor in taste and nutritional content, so it is important to make breakfast and tea time meals very nutrititious. I feel variety is the key and to have lots of tempting lunch options availalbe that are quick and easy to prepare.
I can help you achieve your health goal for your children by visiting your School and providing a demonstration of some healthy snacks and explain the different food options available because after all “we are what we eat” and we want to keep our children healthy and happy going forward.
TESTIMONIAL“
I am Patrick McGrath, Director of Carraig Linguistic Services. Recently, Mary Carmody spoke to a group of our Spanish students from Barcelona regarding food, nutrition and health. The presentation given by Mary was wonderful, stimulating and most interesting. The students thoroughly enjoyed it and took away many useful hints about healthy eating. In addition to the talk, Mary gave a practical demonstration on the making and usefulnees of healthy fruit and vegetable smoothies. The students also participated in the making of these and the entire lecture was well worthwhile. I would highly recommmend that similar lectures and presentations take place in our Primary and Secondary Schools here in Ireland, especially in an age where prevelance of childhood obesity is all too frequent.”
